Anger, Sweat and Beer

"The floor was slick with a mixture of sweat and beer, broken glass from beer bottles crunched underneath your feet wherever you walk". This was the scene at a Latin dance hall in Fort Myers, Florida that King Wesley and Earl Thomas were working security at late Friday night. From 8:00pm to 10:30pm every thing was going fine. The king was at the main door performing pat-downs and keeping an eye on the cash register, while Earl Thomas was inside watching for unruly drunks and any fights that might break out.

At about 10:45pm however the alcohol started taking affect and as a result, to put it nicely people became uncivil. To there defense, with the amount of people in the hall it grew extremely hot and every one was sweating profusely. It didn't help that the entrance fee was $35 which was absurd, so as you can imagine people were not going home anytime soon.

Now a little after 11:00pm is when all hell broke loose. The King and Earl Thomas did not stop moving for the rest of the night. Twenty seven people were kicked out for fighting that night. More than half of those twenty seven had to be dragged or carried out. Just to be clear this wasn't one big brawl but over a dozen "smaller" fights. Bottles were thrown, punches were landed and the sweat and anger flowed heavily.

Thankfully the King and Earl Tom remained unscathed apart from a few bumps and sore muscles the following morning. Hopefully these events will convince the owner of the hall to hire more security for future functions.
